Independent verification is critical to the credibility of Taxonomy-aligned reporting. The Romania Green Building Council (RoGBC) offers a comprehensive ESG verification service for the real estate industry, specifically designed to verify property conformity with EU Taxonomy criteria. This service addresses the growing need for transparent, reliable assessment of sustainable real estate investments in Romania.

How Independent Verification Works
The RoGBC methodology ensures complete separation between consultancy and verification. Your chosen ESG/Taxonomy consultant prepares the compliance report and guides you through meeting the requirements - they work for you. RoGBC then independently verifies that report, along with all the supporting documentation, functioning as a neutral third party with no interest in the outcome. This separation is essential: just as a financial auditor cannot also be the company's accountant, a consultant who prepares documentation cannot credibly verify their own work.

The process is straightforward. Once your consultant has prepared the EU Taxonomy compliance documentation, you submit it to RoGBC for independent verification. Our team analyzes the documentation against all Taxonomy criteria - substantial contribution to climate objectives, "Do No Significant Harm" (DNSH) assessments, and minimum safeguards. If everything meets the requirements, we issue the Independent Verification Certificate. If we identify gaps, you work with your consultant to address them, and we re-verify until full compliance is achieved.

What you receive is market-recognized credibility. You get both your consultant's detailed technical report and RoGBC's Independent Verification Certificate. While the consultant's report is valuable internal documentation, the RoGBC Certificate provides what banks and investors need: third-party validation they can rely on for credit decisions, protection against greenwashing accusations, and documentation that meets the European Commission's requirements for independent verification. The consultant's report alone cannot provide this market recognition or legal reliance.

RoGBC's ESG independent verification service covers three essential business areas defined in the EU Taxonomy: new construction, renovation, and acquisition and ownership. 

The verification process thoroughly examines compliance with key EU Taxonomy objectives, focusing on climate change mitigation, climate change adaptation, and transition to a circular economy. The assessment includes detailed evaluation of "Do-No-Significant-Harm" criteria and minimum requirements for corporate compliance, ensuring comprehensive coverage of all relevant sustainability aspects.

Verification Pathways

The RoGBC offers two distinct pathways for ESG verification. 

1. Green Homes Certification
The first pathway utilizes the Green Homes certification program for residential properties, including both new construction and existing buildings. This program has achieved full alignment with EU Taxonomy requirements and provides comprehensive assessment across all environmental objectives, including climate change mitigation, adaptation strategies, sustainable water usage, circular economy principles, pollution prevention, and biodiversity protection. 

2. European Taxonomy Verified Alignment Certificate
The second pathway operates through a RoGBC dedicated assessment platform, which facilitates assessment of both individual assets and complete portfolios, while providing comprehensive gap analysis for compliance and fulfillment of reporting requirements. The platform seamlessly integrates with RoGBC's independent verification process, ensuring thorough evaluation of all submitted projects.
