About

Dorin Beu, Member of RoGBC, will participate in this event as a speaker.

Fire safety in buildings has become an increasingly important topic at the European level, especially after the Grenfell Tower fire in London. The European Commission has created the Fire Information Exchange Platform, and for the first time, a European directive includes requirements for fire safety in buildings. This directive promotes energy efficiency in buildings and encourages its adoption. While it increases energy efficiency, it can also increase fire risks. Are we prepared to handle this?

In 1950, a room was engulfed in flames in 25 minutes. Now it takes only 3 minutes. In Romania, approximately 200 people die from fire and another 600 are hospitalized each year. We know that the nature of buildings is changing: the construction industry is developing new innovative solutions that existing regulations and testing regimes have not yet addressed. We are drastically changing the way we build, yet regulations are not periodically updated to reflect these changes.

Join us for the 2nd edition of the PRIA Fire Safety in Buildings conference to discuss how we can apply all these changes and how best to implement them into our legislation!

Green buildings and automation are also extremely important topics on the European agenda. This event will feature representatives from MDRAP (Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration), MAI (Ministry of Internal Affairs), ISU (Emergency Situations Inspectorate), fire safety experts, firefighters, European and Romanian associations, international companies from various sectors such as real estate developers, supermarket chains, hotel chains, logistics warehouses, material manufacturers, chambers of commerce, embassies, NGOs, homeowner associations, representatives from Parliament and the Senate, architects, investors, insurers, banks, lawyers, and media representatives.

Speakers include:

  • Raed ARAFAT – Head of the Department for Emergency Situations

  • Dorin BEU – Lecturer, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca / Member of Romania Green Building Council

  • Mihai TOADER-PASTI – Co-Founder and General Manager EFdeN

  • Raluca VOIVOZEANU - CEO, PRIA Conferences
