About

This course is optional for those seeking to obtain the "Green Building Professional" certificate.

The course focuses on the fundamental principles of landscape design and management from a sustainable perspective, particularly on the relationship between humans and nature. The following topics will be explored: definitions, concepts, and sustainable approaches to landscape; sustainable landscape design; climate-sensitive urban design: learning from nature and integrating the positive effects of natural phenomena into design; the role of designed landscapes in international evaluation tools and certifications that demonstrate a high level of social sustainability and urban quality of life; case studies and best practices.

Concepts such as sustainable landscape design will be discussed, evaluating its impact on the environment and the benefits it brings to a community (including reducing water and energy consumption, improving air quality, enhancing human health, and diversifying recreational options). Sustainable landscape design is also a crucial component for internationally recognized projects that aim to achieve green building certifications such as LEED, BREEAM, or DGNB. Topics covered during the course include site analysis, design considerations, plant selection, and installation for good results and easy maintenance.
