Dr. Beu holds a Ph.D. in Construction Engineering from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, specializing in “daylight offices” (natural light in workspaces). He has received research grants from the University of Liverpool, CSTB Grenoble, the University of Barcelona, and the Helsinki University of Technology, working on European research projects related to daylight, lighting tubing, and window systems. Dr. Beu is the President of the National Committee of Lighting Engineers in Romania (www.cnri.ro), Co-President of the Lumen Congress (www.lightingsibiu.eu), and was President of the Romanian Lighting Convention, Bucharest, 2011. He has participated in numerous European energy efficiency programs, with the most recent being the "European Residential Lighting Initiative" (ENRLIN). Dr. Beu has coordinated lighting and electrical work for 36 real estate projects, including Worldbank - Bucharest, Casa Radio - Bucharest, Polus Mall - Cluj-Napoca, Cluj-Napoca Philharmonic, and Sigma Towers - Cluj-Napoca. He is the editor of “Lighting Engineering” in Romania and author of “Technical Lighting in Industrial Office Buildings,” published by Mediamira, Cluj-Napoca, 2011. He is co-author of several books, including “Guide to Low Voltage Electrical Installation Design” (Mediamira, 1998) and, together with Dr. Liisa Halonen, the second volume of the indoor lighting guide (Mediamira, 2000). Recent activities include leading the Romanian Green Building Council, Transylvania branch.
