A full day course focused on best practices for managing successful green building projects. The course covered, among other topics, key sustainable construction principles including "Integrated Design", obtaining optimal performance results from project partners,and the proper commissioning of completed building projects. Course participants were exposed to very ambitious but achievable performance goals including the "plus-energy" concept where buildings contribute more energy than they consume; a critical concept for the near future due to the approaching EU legislation and concerns about rising energy prices and scarcity.

The aim of this workshop was supplying to participants of professional knowledge relating to the most recent developments and trends, as well as effective applications in the area of building automation technologies and systems – BMS. This workshop was targeted to professionals such as property managers, facility managers, Property and FM company managers, landlords and tenants as well as various other specialists active in the Property and Facility Management fields.
This course had the same stucture with the one held on March 10, in Bucharest.
This workshop was intended for those who are new to green building and looking to learn the basics of green building and LEED. The workshop offered an introduction to USGBC, green building principles and the fundamentals of the LEED Rating System. It included topics on climate change and building impacts; motivators for green building; and conventional versus integrative approaches - and the associated benefits - to building design, construction and operations.
This workshop was a great overall course about LEED and good prep for the Green Associate Exam. It was intended for anyone who wants more than a basic understanding of LEED - including those with a stake in their company's or community's building practices, those directly involved in green building projects, and those pursuing GBCI's LEED Green Associate credential. The workshop provided essential knowledge of sustainable building concepts that are fundamental to all LEED Rating Systems.

Among other legal topics, the course covers European legislation including the upgraded Energy Performance for Buildings Directive and Construction Waste Directive as well as national legislation changes.

The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games is a $30bn investment project in the infrastructure of this Black Sea resort and mountain skiing complex. There are over 200 investment projects including hotels, sports facilities, transport infrastructure (new international airport, high speed rail links, road links etc). Russia is committed to ensuring that these projects are as "sustainable" as possible - these commitments have been made to the International Olympic Committee.

The Romanian Lighting Convention 2011 - one of the most comprehensive lighting events in the region - brought together lighting technologies from all sectors and stages of the supply chain together under one roof; providing access to the knowledge and solutions people need. This year’s convention included a conference on “Green Retailing” organized by the Romania Green Building Council. It was a meeting place for lighting companies, architects, retailers, and public authorities.
RoGBC was an official partner of the third edition of the Romanian Energy Performance of Buildings Conference held in Bucharest, on 26 and 27 of May 2011.

Investors need to have a clear understanding of the requirements of green buildings before they make their land purchases. While increasingly desired by investors, the internationally recognized green building rating tools (such as LEED, BREEAM, DGNB, etc.) penalize those who are developing building sites without regard to the biodiversity value and other ecological impacts, public transit availability, and other sustainable siteing and management considerations.

The trainers will highlight the key business case value factors for the various stakeholder groups and will explain how sustainable buildings provide benefits in each instance.
RoGBC Transilvania and the Research Laboratory for Lighting was pleased to announce the “LIGHT & LANDSCAPE” workshop. The two day summer school was opened to all students, architects and landscape designers and discussed about the key elements for landscape design and lighting controls. The course was both in Romanian and in English and was held by Ms. Katja Perrey (landscape design) and Dr. Dorin Beu (lighting)
Gain essential knowledge of the LEED BD+C rating systems, including credit intents, key elements, main requirements, and referenced standards; synergies among credits; and foundations of the LEED certification process, including basic documentation considerations. This workshop addresses the following LEED rating systems: LEED for New Construction & Major Renovations, LEED for Core & Shell, and LEED for Schools. Throughout the day, a USGBC Authorized Education Delivery Partner engaged in discussions and interactive activities based on real LEED projects to enforce what you’ve learned. LEED 201: Core Concepts & Strategies was recommended prior to taking this course, but it was not required.
The Romania Green Building Council hosted experts from the Dutch Green Building Council who made presentations on their initiatives creating and implementing a national standard for rating the sustainable of buildings and communities. All members of the building community were welcomed to attend with priority seating going to members of the Romania Green Building Council.

The 2011 edition of the international architectural contest / competition "Archetypes" is approaching it's final stage. 13 cities, 29 locations, over 800 participants from 15 countries that have signed 121 projects were evaluated by an international jury. The competition continues its mission to improve urban public space in Romania.

The CONTRAST Exhibition is a fragment of the DIALOG WITH THE VISIBLE PROJECT and the first of a series of temporary concept stores that will occur in the fall of 2011, in Bucharest. CONTRAST’s first edition will take place between the 3rd and the 6th of November 2011, in partnership with Odeon Theatre Bucharest.
