We are pleased to invite you to the event Financial incentives to promote green buildings with superior energy performance organized by the Romania Green Building Council (RoGBC) and the Association of Municipalities of Romania (AMR) on 10 June, 11.00 at The HUB Bucharest: 5th Halelor, 3rd floor (Unirii Square) Bucharest.

The event will include the presentation of the Guidelines for the promotion of green building by property tax reduction, an opportunity to discuss the following subjects:
  • the current legislation allowing adoption of the property tax reduction to promote green buildings;
  • underlying requirements to obtain a high energy performance certificate;
  • various international certifications for sustainable buildings and the criteria that are taken into account to obtain such certification;
  • an analysis of the costs and benefits of adopting such measures to stimulate green and sustainable building.

The most accessible measure for encouraging green building and high energy performance is property tax reduction.

The legislation proposal for  providing financial incentives such as tax reduction for construction building which have a a globally recognized certification - eg BREEAM, DGNB or LEED - is presented in the Guide of Romanian Green Building Council and was created with a global of improving the well-being of the communities and even the Planet. The guide was created by experts from Romania and foreign experts with a vast experience on the Romanian market.

At European level, the environment industry provides jobs for 3.4 million people, surpassing the chemical and automotive industry, which demonstrates the potential of a "green market". In addition, improving the quality of construction, comfort, hospitals, schools and universities, office buildings and residences is additional incentive for professionals, because they are motivated to develop their businesses within our territory and can help Romania's economic success.

We want and we believe it is likely that the cities of Romania can provide an immediate economic stimulus and job creation opportunity as we continue our efforts to align with important directives on energy efficiency, all having a positive impact on local budgets.

Owners who want to benefit from property tax reductions must take major steps to help improve life in local communities, raise standards and the level of competitiveness in the industry, and increase the financial resources of municipalities that have implemented the proposed legislation.
