bauMax and the Romania Green Building Council worked together to promote sustainable construction and energy efficiency for the “Do It Yourself” sector. We organized an exciting exhibition to coincide with the first retail store with comprehensive green building features opening in Romania on November 23-24.

Providers of green solutions had the opportunity to showcase – at a low cost – their solutions and disseminate information in an exhibition area located in the DRIVE-IN of bauMax Ploiesti. The RoGBC has participated in the exhibition with informative materials on what is a green building and how to save money by building green.

The other exhibitors were: URSA Romania (insulation - RoGBC Founding Member), Corporate Office Solutions (showcasing ecological InterfaceFloor carpets - RoGBC Founding Member and 2009 Gold Member), Dexion (storage systems - RoGBC Member), Katja Perrey Landscapes (landscape design - RoGBC Member), Rigips Romania, Natural Paint (ecological coatings and paints - RoGBC Member), Lafarge (showcasing low CO2 cement - RoGBC Founding Member and 2009 Platinum Member), Rehau, Wienerberger (showcasing their Porotherm system of ecological bricks - RoGBC Member) and Calidus (showcasing their pellets based heating systems - RoGBC Member).

The RoGBC and bauMax also organized a contest for aspiring students of architecture, engineering, construction, and related disciplines to design ecological and energy efficient solutions for Romanian homes and apartments. The contest rules and deadlines are available here. The jury that graded the projects was formed by: Katja Perrey (KP Landscapes), arh. Andrei Lakatos (University of Architecture and Urban Planning Bucharest), Laura Nemoianu (Romania Green Building Council). The results are here. The 3 winning projects received prizes amounting to 5000 RON and the top 7 projects are displayed at the bauMax Ploiesti exhibition. The prizes and participation certificates were awarded at the bauMax Ploiesti inauguration ceremony that took place on November 23.
