  • June 8 and 9, 2011 - "Cradle to Cradle", Iasi

The event is hosted by North-East Regional Development Agency, a nongovernmental organization involved for almost 12 years in regional development strategies’ and programs’ promotion and implementation. The location is placed in the largest city of the region (360,000 inhabitants), former cultural capital of the historical province Moldavia, in the Technical University Gheorghe Asachi of Iasi (the largest university in Romania).

During 2 days, the partners of the project are invited to reflect on two important topics: how identified Cradle to Cradle good practices will be actually implemented in the partner regions and what is the added value that the INTERREG IVC fast track project is going to deliver until 31.12.2011 toward the future regional policies.

Romania Green Building Council will be represented by Mr. Steven Borncamp with a presentation on the green building movement, market opportunities and certification systems.

Here you can find the agenda for the two days:

After a hard job on collecting theoretical information regarding Cradle to Cradle principles and results achieved all over Europe, the project team prepared a comprehensive collection of more than 150 good practices, that demonstrated the implementation of Cradle to Cradle in practice and are ready to share the experience gathered with other partners.

Each project partner had identified with regional stakeholders the most advantageous good practices feasible to be transferred in one of the project fields: building, industry, governance or area spatial development. In the months between April and June all the potential good practice hosts will make efforts to identify and characterize in a regional action plan the steps envisaged for a real case implementation.

All initiatives must be capable to take a solid shape by the end of the project with a single purpose: to catalyze regional resources and attract the decisional policy makers to support through concrete measures the implementation of Cradle to Cradle.

At the beginning of the next programming period Cradle to Cradle is starting a new path: the one much closer to the large scale implementation. We have a chance to shape the regional programs, the evaluation and selection criteria for European funded projects, and the eligibility criteria for public procurements, to set-up new professional category and to encourage development of new quality system standards. These are ambition goals but some of them will be for sure achieved through the efforts of Cradle to Cradle Network members.
